Best New Product Award

April 11, 2006 - Ascenta Health’s newest product, OmegaSmooth, received the Best New Product Award in London at the Natural Products Europe Show.
In its 10th year anniversary. The 2006 Natural Products Europe Show in London was bigger and better that ever. This year saw a record attendance of retailers and practitioners, nearly 500 exhibitors from around the world, and even a greeting from His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales.

At Natural Products Europe, the world is truly watching, and for this reason, the industry’s top companies from around the world are present to showcase their product lines including the latest innovations in natural health products. The highlight of the show is the Annual Industry Awards, which recognize and celebrate the best of the best in various categories including the exciting “New Product” category. Open to all supplements, the “New Product” award is presented to the most innovative new products. After all the votes were tabulated, Canada-based manufacturer Ascenta Health Ltd. was announced a finalist in the “New Product” category for its new omega-3 product, OmegaSmooth. This placing also made OmegaSmooth the top fish oil.

Regarded as the “Leader in Omega-3 Science and Innovation”, Ascenta Health created a buzz among retailers for something new to the already red-hot omega-3 category. Ascenta describes OmegaSmooth as an omega-3 supplement that is very different from traditional fish oils. Though the development of a proprietary new processing technology Ascenta researchers were able to completely transform the usual taste and texture associated with fish oils. As a result, OmegaSmooth delivers a silky smooth texture along with a mouth-watering taste. The children’s version features a taste referred to as “Berry Sensation” while the adult version is “Orange Sensation”.

Research validating the health benefits of omega-3 fish oils for children has fueled a high demand for omega-3 supplements formulated for kids. With most parents unwilling to feed their children capsules OmegaSmooth represents the first truly kid-friendly omega-3.

“When consumers lick the spoon after a sample of Omega Smooth I’d say that’s a pretty good sign,” said Rene Leclerc, Director of Sales at Ascenta. “Children enjoy the taste so much that parents don’t have to tell them it’s a health supplement,” he added.
